It's been some time since I launched the question, "Will Jover Laurio survive a BBC HardTalk Interview?" Her BBC Interview happened just before she was stupidly crowned by the Philippine Daily Inquirer as Filipino of the year. Now it's time to consider that why she should really get airtime at Stephen Sackur's TV program BBC HardTalk.
The interview she had at BBC was anything but interesting. The reporter that was simply asking her questions looked bored, uninterested or even unconvinced with how Maria Josephine "Jover" Laurio raised her points. But what if she were facing against Stephen Sackur? The same Sackur that ruthlessly grilled Antonio Trillanes IV may end up grilling her as well. It would be nice if somebody who understands Tagalog or any Filipino associated with BBC would at least translate all the Tagalog into English from that idiotic Taglish blog called Pinoy Ako Blog for the interview.
This would be an interesting breakdown should Sackur actually bring up some entries from the Pinoy Ako Blog. He would probably ask Laurio to whether or not she would consider herself to be the Filipino of the Year in contrast to the fallen freedom fighters in Marawi who died during a massive struggle against the Maute. Chances are she will probably inflate her ego which may result to more grilling questions from Sackur himself - aside from asking her whether or not she's a democrat where she may answer, "No, I'm from the Liberal Party."
What I can expect from this interview would probably include to her latest claims this 2018. Sackur may want to ask with issues like why she thinks Rigoberto Tiglao is spreading fake news or how she thinks the Tax Reform law is actually bad by comparing the old and the new income tax computations. Sackur may even cite the differences between the old tax law and the new tax law or ask Laurio if she's aware that other factors may have led to the Philippines' depreciating peso and the world market - which he may ask, "Are you aware that a president has no real control over the world market such as the increasing prices of gasoline and the peso-dollar exchange rate isn't completely on his shoulders?"
Sackur may even address all the fake claims made by the Yellows such as old pictures are also used to say that they are still relevant (ex. gatherings that happened way before Duterte's presidency), that the Build Build Build project is going nowhere (by using pictures of past failed projects from Noynoy Aquino and backwards), Leni Robredo's desire not to include Iloilo in the manual recount, that Maria Lourdes Sereno's ouster was done democratically by the rule of quo warranto - how can she explain them to him when he asks her to explain her claims?
It would probably be funny to see Laurio lose her so-called decency online. She may end up throwing a tantrum and maybe, she might even go as far as to accuse Sackur of being "racist against Filipinos" - a common card played against non-Filipino opponents just so she could enjoy her blunder.
