It's really annoying how so many keep tagging #fakenews all the while they do it isn't it? It would be good to differentiate #fakenews from #satiricalnews and #opinionblogs to see the difference.
Let's first define #satiricalnews.
To have satirical news means to make a news that's not intended to mislead. You can have So What's News and the Adobo Chronicles as satirical news. They are intended for fun and to make fun of current events. They have disclaimers that prove that the "news" they write make fun of current events. A pretty good example is So What's News when it wrote the obviously impossible "news" that Alan La Madrid Purisima was banned from restaurants. It was all a joke intended to make fun of current events. You can also easily dismiss the rumor that Olivia Jordan was dating Noynoy Aquino from the Adobo Chronicles because it's obviously not true. They weren't made to mislead. There's the OBVIOUS disclaimer and every writer had the right to get mad at people who don't read just spread it without understanding the context. Unfortunately, GMA-7 refused to acknowledge the thin line that divided fake news from satirical news.
Next, let's define #opinionblog.
Do I need to tell you that this isn't a news blog to start with? It's crazy how Get Real Philippines is labeled as "fake news" when it only reacts to current events. It's an editorial. This blog is not a news blog either. I'm simply ranting on what I read from the newspaper or watch from the news. Sites like Get Real Philippines talks about what's going on. It talks about the writer's views. Every good opinion is backed up by facts to defend it. So why is Get Real Philippines or others like Thinking Pinoy considered a source of fake news? It doesn't agree with the merged opposition of #TindigPilipinas. If the opinion blog doesn't agree with the merged opposition they are quick to accuse it as fake news.
Finally, what is #fakenews?
Before you define fake news did you read the first two segments before you read it here? Fake news is defined as deliberate misinformation or propaganda with the intent to deceive people. Want fake news? Let's talk about the Dilawan Media. There's the term yellow journalism and dilaw is Tagalog for the color yellow. Yellow journalism is defined as another synonym for sensationalism. They intend to sell news for profit than to transmit the news as it should be. Although they talk about the truth but they deliberately place lies. The number one culprit of fake news is #ABSCBN, #Inquirer and #Rappler. That would be fake news. While they do speak some truth but they mix it with some lies passed as truths.
