The Best Bet For The Opposition To Compete For Attention From The Government Is The Parliamentary System

Let's just face it that the Opposition wants to compete for attention from President Rodrigo R. Duterte. However, the CURRENT system which is presidential hardly gives them that platform. You can consider how Kakie Pangilinan et al wants to compete against Duterte for attention. Unfortunately, Senator Francis Pangilinan's daughter together with Florin Hilbay's "don't listen to the president" is NOT the way. They want to compete with Duterte for attention yet they oppose Constitutional Reform? Well, they're shooting themselves at the foot because the parliamentary system is the most excellent way to do that!

How does that work? Because the parliamentary system sets up a REAL competition. It's because of the defined roles of the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader. Let's just say the current Opposition has decided to make Antonio F. Trillanes IV their Opposition Leader. How will that work for press conferences? It's because the Weekly Question Hour is broadcasted LIVE while replays are now possible over the Internet. Newspapers and websites will have to publish the results. So how will this work in the Opposition's attempt to compete for attention against Duterte?

It's because the Government and the Opposition are both competing for attention from the people. Trillanes as the Opposition Leader has his own set of Shadow Ministers to face off against Duterte's own set of actual Ministers. The name of the game is competition. The Parliamentary System formalizes the Opposition as a shadow government to compete with the actual Government. Both sides will be debating WEEKLY. The audience isn't solely focused on the Government but also on the Opposition. That means they will really be competing against the Government for attention without having to do monkey tactics.

The real competition is in the PARLIAMENTARY system. It's because you don't have to wait for SONA nor do you have to wait for the election period. The campaigning happens weekly when both the Government and the Opposition face off in a REAL DEBATE on how to serve the country better.
