Senator Bam, Deputy Speaker Tanada Should Consider Economic Liberalization As A Huge Anti-Poverty Measure

It's a shame really how both men of high academic achievement (and for Senator Bam Aquino who was once an award winning entrepreneur) are just offering band-aid solutions. It's just proof really that lousy systems will create lousy people out of once competent people. I mean, what happened to the Bam who was once that award-winning entrepreneur? Why did he become boy pagpag? Now the two are vowing to push for anti-poverty measures but what anti-poverty measures do they have anyway? Donating leftovers? Pushing for more 4Ps coverage when in fact it's a conditional cash transfer in name only? They better explain what anti-poverty measures they have and how it will be implemented!

Did the two of them consider that economic liberalization is a huge anti-poverty measure? Even if 4Ps will become a livelihood program but remember that they do not create jobs. What they need to consider is that while foreign investors aren't the only way to create jobs but they are needed now to create more jobs. They need to consider how foreign investors have assisted several neighboring countries (even those under a presidential system) in improving their economy. Do you know China and Singapore were once way poorer than the Philippines but one day they caught up and defeated it? If the Philippines wants to defeat China then it should consider removing all unreasonable restrictions towards foreign investors. Just imagine if firms investing in dictatorial China move to democratic Philippines -- it may even convince Chinese businessmen to move there! You can think of how that can help the Philippines recover against China without going to war!

What they need to consider for anti-poverty measures to work is to get more income. When Senator Bam pushed for the Go Negosyo Act -- he should have considered that liberating the economy can help small and medium Filipino-owned businesses grow and expand into new heights. Innovative thinking is only pushed harder when there's real competition. I just wonder did these two consider that economic liberalization plays a huge part in anti-poverty programs?
