There were a few episodes where Oslak made an appearance before he was sent to Terra Erthu. After that, the show simply muddled the issue of his horns. The Anime seemed to hint that Oslak had no horns but was given a promotion. There was no way the v-shaped insignia might be his horns unless it was v-shaped horns like an impala deer. Though, Voltes V episode 28 did hint that Emperor Zambojil was willing to give slaves a promotion IF they would be willing to serve him. Zambojil did bribe Lagour with getting reinstated as Minister of Science. It seems that Oslak (or Bergan as I prefer to call him) was made as a foil. Remember that Oslak was a GENERAL and not a member of the nobility. Under the rule of Zambojil - both horned and hornless are not safe from his tyrannical whims.
The original Anime presented Bergan to be a real credible threat. I think Ozlak's real fall in Buntis Faib Legacy is being more overconfident than the Anime character. The part where Jamie's father dies in Buntis Faib Legacy shows some real stupidity that Bergan didn't have. Bergan himself created the Beast Fighter Daian to do some form of mind control. The Anime had Bergan being more than prepared even if he lost at the end of the day. Megumi fell under Bergan's control via Daian. Even better, they were put at a very dangerous situation since both General Oka and Megumi were onboard a chopper. It was a plan that was more guaranteed to kill BOTH father and daughter.
Buntis Faib Legacy did some minor changes. Oslak got overconfident in his scheme because Jamie fell under his control. The Anime had Oslak prepare a Beast Fighter JUST IN CASE. Sure, Daian was soon easily defeated without the need for the Ultra-Electromagnetic Ball. However, what can't be denied is that General Oka's death on-air nearly won Bergan a victory against Megumi. Oslak was simply riding a flying saucer (the COMMON FODDER that's easily defeated) instead of bringing a Beast Fighter just in case. The fact that the ring was also a Beast Fighter is contingency planning. It's very unlike Bergan who was learning from his defeats. Oslak went to the battle UNPREPARED. Oslak could've been easily killed by Mark via the Volt Bomber. Like WTF was Oslak thinking when he was just using a flying saucer instead of bringing major arms? Did Oslak not expect the other members of Buntis Faib to catch up on him?
It's pretty much like how Trillanes himself conducted two of his biggest fiascos. Neither the Manila Peninsula Siege nor the Oakwood Mutiny was anything to write home about. I was laughing thinking how Trillanes ended up getting called a five-star general but not for a valid reason. Trillanes was called a five-star general because he hid in a FIVE-STAR HOTEL. Trillanes would've probably overthrown the government IF he was more well-prepared. Instead, Trillanes' obvious lack of preparation was all that. The scene where Oslak didn't bring proper reinforcements reminded me of Trillanes.
Both Oslak and Trillanes have high intelligence. Oslak invented the Maxigal Armor. Trillanes graduated cum laude in military school. Yet, both of them really lack common sense when it came to real battle.
