Leni Loud Robredo Should Support ECONOMIC Reforms Now As She Launches Online Platform For Jobseekers

Whatever Vice President Leni Loud Robredo is doing if it should benefit this COVID-19 crisis then let her do it. Even President Rodrigo R. Duterte did good in firing PACC's ex-chief Manuelito Luna from and recognized her initiatives to help. However, what she needs to consider is that CONSTITUTIONAL REFORM is badly needed to get her proposals done. Online platform for jobseekers is GOOD but how can there be more jobs when there's still 60-40 restrictions going on? If 60-40 restrictions weren't on then think that the Philippines may have had several telcos, ABiaS-CBN and Rappler wouldn't get into the trouble they're in right now, and that there will be more available, faster Internet for job seekers. The question is does she even support revising Article XII by removing the whole negative list?

As said, online platform by Leni Loud is not a bad thing. However, consider the two major hurdles. The Philippines has the SLOWEST Internet in ASEAN and 60-40. She needs to ask if one is willing to rent a space if the lessor will only let one own 40% of one's business in that branch. She wants jobs? Well, she should aggressively push the legislative to remove the negative list entirely and allow foreign direct investors (FDI) to invest in the Philippines. That way she can allow more telcos to go beyond DITO (the third telco which is PARTLY Chinese-owned) and get telcos beyond China. Also, by removing excessive FDI restrictions - more companies seeking to leave China can leave for the Philippines.

What should be considered is the ORIGINAL history of the Liberal Party. Did you know that Carlos P. Garcia who started the Filipino First Policy is from the NACIONALISTA Party? Did you know the original founder of the Dilawans was Diosdado Macapagal, the father of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo? Macapagal was actually trying to ease down restrictions. Unfortunately, the Liberal Party of the Philippines forgot this platform. Noynoy Aquino did do some 29 economic reforms but he should've just removed the negative list entirely. Leni Loud herself should consider that move RIGHT NOW to call for it if she expects to win back the people's favor.
