So how did that all happen? I guess you remember the outcome of the post-martial law years resulted to the Aquinos rise into power. I remembered having grown up in the Philippines during the 90s. There was this big fascination about Kris. You had her starring in several movies and talk shows. I could remember how often some of my teachers back in high school and college developed the habit of saying, "You ask Kris Aquino to help you if you fail!" because students spent too much time watching her shows. I could remember how someone even in my college days made Kris' marital woes with James Yap as her excuse to be always absent. It was really very irritating to how she had that huge fan following. Worse, if you didn't like Kris Aquino then her fandom would treat you as a subjective low brain who didn't agree with the majority who like her a lot. Unfortunately, now the majority has turned their backs on her!
Then the inevitable happened. Her fame was starting to slip away from her fingers. Rather than accept her fame wasn't going to last like some old movie stars (and some of them still look good even when they are old) -- she decided to cling on to what she could never have forever. It's like trying to hold on to youth when you live long enough to be old. It was 2010 and her brother Noynoy Aquino soon became president last 2010 up to 2016. What she didn't anticipate was that the Noynoy Presidency was going to inadvertently ruin her career for years to come. Worse, the Noynoy Presidency also caused the Dilawans' true colors to be revealed when he made such disastrous appointees.
She could have just accepted that the time of the Liberal Party or the Yellows is over. She could have accepted that she's now going to be replaced by better talents at ABiaS-CBN. Instead, she decided to simply cling on to power. After all, she's used to getting what she wants, right? She was too used to all the adoring fans because of her Aquino surname, for the fact that her parents supposedly re-established democracy in the Philippines -- never mind it's the same cycle of a dysfunctional democracy rather than a healthy democracy. She had all the masses following her and I guess she never wanted to let that go. She thought that stepping out of ABiaS-CBN for the meantime to help campaign for Mar Roxas would succeed. Instead, it ended up in utter failure as Mar himself lost the presidential race to President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
Then the latest revelation happened that Nicko Falcis himself ended up leaking out the secret transactions between Kris and Jover Laurio. So why Nicko did it might be because of an internal feud. Worse, a leaked conversation has her speaking like a bratty child to her former business partner Nicko. It turns out that she's helping Laurio in boosting Pignoy Ako Blog. Who know she may also be responsible for boosting other similar blogs on Facebook such as Change Scamming, Silent No More, Facts Against Ignorance, Madam Claudia and other Yellow Pages. I know, Falcis did something unethical but somehow she had it coming. Maybe, Falcis was caught red-handed and had no choice but to spew things out like Herbert Colangco during Leila Dilemma's investigation.
She could have kept her current condition of lupus (if ever that's true) as confidential. But she did decide to leak out out believing that she could still garner sympathy. This also puts her in a bigger situation -- businessmen may soon find out that sponsoring her is going to be bad for their business. Also, it makes you think that why should you get Kris to sponsor you anyway? Businesses need not to only innovate their products but to also make sure that they have the right endorsers. I don't even think medical care should hire her to endorse their products even if she has lupus. She's probably just going to use her sickness as an excuse to do what she does. She thought that she would get sympathy but I guess more people are jeering at her instead. She just had it coming one way or another.
