It's annoying to how ultranationalist Failipinos continue to live among the Pinoys in general. They have their Pinoy Pride, a value that won't help the Philippines. Meanwhile we have the enlightened Pinoys who are not typical Pinoys but the new Pinoy. These Pinoys show that Pinoy is a term that can be used neutrally while Failipino will forever be a derogatory term for bad Filipinos.
Leftists want to kick out foreign influence, Pinoy pridists are ethnocentric. What they don't realize is that the Philippines today was a result of foreign influence. Before colonization, it was said that the natives of the Philippines were trustworthy traders. They weren't hostile to foreign businesses. Also, the contemporary Pinoy is a descendant of several settlers such as Indonesian, Malay, Indian, Aetas, Chinese and Spanish. The Spanish became part of the settlers because of the Spanish Rule. They don't realize that the Philippines was born out of foreign influence!
So how can I say that the Philippines was born out of foreign influence? Even the name Philip is foreign. The Philippines was named after King Philip I and Spanish culture came in. Imperial Spain's occupation made Manila the Capital of the Philippines. Also, remember that the Americans did help the Philippines kick out the Spanish forces. Then America had the Commonwealth period. Also, the Philippines was also occupied by Imperial Japan. After Imperial Japan was removed, the Philippines became a ten-year commonwealth state. In short, today the Philippines was born out of foreign influence. The Philippines could have not been what it is today if it wasn't for foreign influence.
The Filipino-Chinese is still a Filipino nonetheless. Like it or not, whenever a Filipino-Chinese businessman invests abroad, it's in the name of the Filipino. The Filipino cannot be a country just for Pinoys. Filipino-Chinese still play a part like Jose Rizal, Emilio Aguinaldo, Marcelo H. Del Pilar and Ignacio Paua. Those who were confirmed to have Chinese blood were also Andres Bonifacio was 1/4 Chinese, Manuel L. Quezon was half-Chinese and Sergio Osmena Sr. was half-Chinese. When you think of it, they are not Pinoy by blood but the are still Filipino by heart. Sad to say but Pinoy Pridists see the Filipino-Chinese as a threat. Fortunately, enlightened Pinoys embrace every citizen as a Filipino.
Filipino food is born out of foreign influence too. When the Chinese came in, sotanghon is a Filipino way of preparing something introduced by the Chinese. When the Imperial Japanese came in, shaved ice became part of the culture and today the Philippines has halo-halo. The 300 years of Spanish occupation would have given Hispanic influence to the cuisine. The U.S. came in, American influence came in. The Philippines won't be able to make chocolate bars and candies without the American influence.
Today, the Philippines must really realize... could the Philippines have been born without cultural exchange? Now it's time to tear down the barriers. Bar out leftist parties from running in politics. Stop negotiating for guilty Pinoys who should do the time. Remove the 60/40 policy to create fair exchange... that is if foreign countries allow Pinoys a higher foreign ownership, the Philippines should also return the favor too. That way, we can strive for the better to make it more fun in the Philippines!
These ultranationalists/Failipinos are way TOO INSECURE to the point of viewing anything foreign as a THREAT, even if it actually benefits them more than it does harm to them, what a bunch of BIGOTS.
