Goodbye ABiaS-CBN's Hero To Zero TV And Good Riddance

Yup you heard it: Hero TV to set its end of the year broadcast and here's what Anime Pilipinas has to say:

It’s the end of an era. Sources familiar with the matter has told Anime Pilipinas that Filipino language anime channel HEROtv is set to have their final broadcast on Wednesday, January 31st, after 12 years of broadcast.

The Filipino-dubbed movie channel TAG, which was broadcasting for just over a year, is also shutting down at the end of this month.

ABS-CBN, the parent company of the two channels, decided to close them down due to lack of advertiser support.

Anime Pilipinas has tried to contact the representatives of HEROtv and ABS-CBN for comment, but no response as of press time.

So why do you think Hero TV is shutting down? It's a lack of advertising support. Who would want to support a channel that's oh so mediocre in its performance? It's a pale comparison to Animax which has more diversity. Did they think that by frequently re-airing all the shows Filipinos have watched as children that they can keep things up? If so, relying on past successes is a fatal thing to do. Would you want to give support to a company that lives on its past success or would you want to give support to a company that seeks to move forward?

I remembered watching Hero TV and the OH SO AWFUL dubs and lack of choices. The local Philippine TV networks are always showing those shows that you've watched as a child OVER and OVER again. I would like to say I was eight or nine when Yuu Yuu Hakusho and Dragon Ball's Anime series got shown and I'm already 32. You can't rely on the 90s children forever! These children have all grown up and may no longer be that interested with those shows. They may already be more interested with Japanese Drama when it comes to Japanese entertainment. Also, there's a generation gap between shows like I don't even mind if millennials don't want to watch that I grew up with.

With all of these in mind, I don't mind or WALA AKONG PAKI with Hero TV shutting down. Filipinos are better off without that stupid station. Hopefully, ABiaS-CBN will fall down and more international TV networks will come to get rid of the telesbasura mess!

  1. Indeed, ABIAS-CBN is indefinitely the worst among all TV Stations here in the Philippines. Their reports are Biased and One-Sided ALL THE TIME not to mention that in some of their documentaries like Failon Ngayon, they are Subjective and One-Sided on a particular topic in question. GMA is far better than this Biased and One-Sided TV Station. I sincerely hope that they will be terminated by 2020 when their Franchise to operate expires so Filipinos can finally sleep well and I can rest assure that there will be no more stereotyping and improper use of mainstream media.
