Right now, I just want to assume that Vice President Leni Loud Robredo's daughter, Aika Robredo, is INNOCENT. I want to believe it's a fake video or a lookalike (note that Leni Loud has a couple of doppelgangers too such as Dr. Flordeliza Fernandez Grana) that's in that video. The "sex video" is now being probed by the Department of Justice. Meanwhile, I'm just amazed that Leni Loud herself has the guts to immediately throw the accusation at Bobong Marcos. The DOJ is already working on it. Leni Loud can request cooperation with the DOJ. However, there's one rule of thumb in law - INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. Sure, the late Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. has been documented as a dictator and a thief. However, Marcos Sr.'s guilt wouldn't immediately make Bobong the person behind the sex video. That's just a very dumb conclusion if you ask me.
Leni Loud's recent accusation just reminds me of two incidents in the 1990s namely the Vizconde Massacre and the Chiong sisters (Jacqueline and Marijoy). Both of these trials were held at trial by publicity. I remembered how I believed Hubert Webb and Paco Larranaga were tagged for crimes that they didn't do? Hubert was in the United States and Paco was in Quezon City, Manila, when the respective crimes happened. We had two inept judges involved. One is retired judge Amelita Tolentino and the other is the late Martin Ocampo. Amelita REFUSED to have any DNA test. Amelita shot herself at the foot when she said that it's the quality of the evidence that matters. Amelita should've had ALL THE EVIDENCE examined for validity. Ocampo should've done that too. One must wonder what motives were there when both trials were pretty much ONE-SIDED?
Leni Loud's jumping the gun accusation may or not be true. If Bobong was really behind it then he should be disqualified. However, Leni Loud better have proof that it was indeed her nemesis, Bobong, who was behind the fake video. It could've been done by a Marcos supporter to smear Leni Loud. It could've been done by a Dutertard. It could've been done by the personal nemesis of her late husband Jesse Robredo. The possibilities are all out there. For all we know, maybe the person who did it is in ANOTHER COUNTRY and has a grudge against the Robredos. The long line of possibilities is there. The DOJ is working on it. Leni Loud should let the DOJ do its job, get updates, and maybe hire someone who can trace the maker of the video.
This recent incident should be a picture of how sensationalism is prevalent in the Philippines. I believe whoever made the video should be punished. However, directly saying that it's from Bobong's camp without any evidence yet is just speculation. That would make me wonder is Leni Loud even fit to be president with her jumping the gun? What's the use of condemning the Anti-Terrorism Law's defect concerning arrest based on mere suspicion when one's already concluding it's Bobong's fault? There's still due process to follow in arresting the people behind it. Leni Loud could've just said, "Whoever made it, shame on you." then jump to conclusions. Protect Aika? Yes. Assume Bobong is innocent until proven guilty? Also yes. Leni Loud should just sit back and cooperate with the investigation without jumping to conclusions.
