I thought about how appointing Atty. Persida V. Rueda-Acosta as the new chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights would be a good thing. I'm already tired of how CHR is useless only because of people like Leila Dilemma, Etta Rosales and Cheato Gascon. Right now, isn't Atty. Acosta of the Public Attorney's Office actually doing the functions that CHR is supposed to do while Gascon isn't doing his job? Gascon as the CHR chairperson should be monitoring ALL human rights violations and not just victims of cop shootings.
Here's the really dumb analysis of #SilentNoMore on abusive cops and criminals. It's really mind-blowing even if I'm not a criminologist or a lawyer. They claim to #fightdisinformation while they're spreading #disinformation. It's just like the Dilawans who claim to #fightfakenews while being agents of spreading fake news themselves. ABiaS-CBN often clips out important details to make who they favor look good and those they hate look bad. They ignore the basic guidelines on professional journalism such as keeping personal opinions away when reporting news. The editorial is where the opinions go but news must always be treated as news. Everything must be spilled out and both sides should be allowed to speak up. As said, don't tell me that abusive cops aren't criminals and that you're not a victim of human rights violation unless it's a cop that commits the crime? Shouldn't CHR deal with all victims of crime in helping them get justice?
What Atty. Acosta is doing is handling all cases regardless who the criminal's position in society. When a cop is abusive he or she should no longer be regarded as a cop but as a criminal. When the late Rolando Mendoza was dismissed for his cases he was demoted to just a common crook. When an abusive cop commits crimes he or she should already be treated as a criminal and should be locked up with common crooks. Atty. Acosta's handling of several cases such as the death of the late Kian Loyd Delos Santos or to every victim of crime that the CHR isn't handling proves she's doing better than Gascon. Victims of drug-crazed criminals are also victims of human rights abuses. That's what she's seeing that all victims of crime are indeed victims of human rights abuses.
Looking at this one it's really something to think about how CHR ends up becoming useless by being biased in what they do. On the other hand, PAO itself doing the CHR should have been doing. It's more than time to #FireChitoGascon and get someone competent to head CHR or one could consider merging PAO and CHR's functions into one office called PAO-CHR. Either way, get rid of the Dilawans like Gascon because they're actually just defending human rights only when it's convenient to them. Maybe it's time to make Atty. Acosta head of CHR (or anybody competent enough to run it) or two make her the head of a merged PAO-CHR organization.
