The late Joma Sison may look like Ho Chi Minh (to a certain extent), but Ho Chi Minh he ain't! What I missed three days ago was the 50th anniversary of the Khmer Rouge Genocide. Pol Pot may have succeeded in taking over Cambodia BUT he was inept. The Khmer Rouge regime only lasted for FOUR YEARS -- while killing A LOT MORE PEOPLE than the tyrannical Marcos Empire that ruled the Philippines from 1973 until it was toppled during the EDSA Revolution of 1986.
Reading about the Khmer Rouge shows one thing -- Pol Pot was indeed AN IDIOT at so many levels! Plenty of Pol Pot's programs weren't even sustainable. Pol Pot could be classified as an INGGITERO. Pol Pot's desire for his Communist Utopia was built on IDEALISM -- similar ideals that the CPP-NPA carried. The CPP-NPA would've caused a Khmer Rouge-type regime if they took over.
What would Joma possibly do if he became supremof the Philippines? Presumably the same stupid things Pol Pot did. Maybe even dumber. Joma would probably target anyone he believes is a threat -- whether real or imagined. Joma may start mindless bombing against American-based companies as a start. Joma may even target people with a degree from America. Joma's paranoia might make him murder way more people than the late Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. ever did. Fortunately, the late Cory Cojuangco-Aquino canceled his passport -- where he got stuck in the NETHERLANDS where his ashes are still there.
Joma may have probably been toppled down in four years or EVEN LESS -- would he have taken over the Philippines. Reading how the Khmer Rouge had a short reign goes to this -- the Khmer Rouge LACKED sustainability. Why do you think Vladimir Lenin, Mao Zedong, and Ho died in power while Pol Pot didn't? Chances are that the Viet Congs would've probably turned their backs on Joma -- even gun him down. Joma may have probably died in the wilderness like Pol Pot did. Right now though, I couldn't imagine what Joma and Pol Pot are arguing over in Hell.
Either way, I'm thankful that Joma never took over the Philippines. Otherwise, there would've been a memorial site similar to that of Cambodia.
